Theory and flight training


SAILPLNE TOW (A) THEORY TRAINING

Theory training consist of areas:

1. Regulations about towing flights;

2. Equipment for the towing activity;

3. Sailplane towing techniques, including:

  • signals and communication procedures;
  • take-off (normal and crosswind);
  • in-flight launch procedures;
  • descending on tow;
  • sailplane release procedure;
  • tow rope release procedure;
  • landing with tow rope conected
  • emergency procedures during tow, including equipment malfunctions;
  • safety procedures;
  • flight performance of the applicable aircraft type when towing sailplanes;
  • look-out and collision avoidance;
  • performance data sailplanes.

SAILPLANE TOW (A) FLIGHT TRAINING

Flying training consist of:

  • 3 hours of flying
  • 15 flights
  • 5 flights in sailplane if pilot has never been flying sailplanes
